When was the exact moment that a person who is always telling you to buy something came to be regarded as a sage? After all, you wouldn't purchase an automobile from a used-car salesman just because the guy told you that it was a sure bet that the automobile had the potential to run forever. Would you? Yet, for some reason, hundreds of thousands of investors have regarded research this way for years, listening to the parade of investment bank analysts who issue reports and appear on CNBC with one or two words on their lips: buy or strong buy.
