Troy Wheeler, SPA's newest Field Director, will provide energy and dedication to opening up waters to seaplanes in Georgia, which, unlike surrounding states, has not been particularly friendly to seaplane operators. Troy has already set up and attended meetings with SPA Executive Director Steve McCaughey and the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in an attempt to open up the 37,000-acre Lake Lanier to seaplanes. Born and raised in Georgia, Troy is a long-time resident of Lake Lanier, the largest lake in the state. Being an advocate for the Seaplane Pilots Association is the perfect marriage of his passion for aviation and his love for his home.
