Inner sphere two-electron redox processes as represented by chalcogenido and imido transfer reactions constitute one of the fundamental reaction types of transition metal chemistry.This reaction type is ubiquitous in biology and also of tremendous significance in industrial homogeneous catalysis.Transition metal mediated oxo transfer reactions comprise by far the greatest number of these reactions and have been the subject of several comprehensive reviews.
