The light weight of the composite wheels is one of several factors in their racing success. Each weighs 0.5 to 1.0 kg (1 to 2 1b) less than an aluminum wheel, depending on size. "Lightweight carbon fiber composite wheels deliver faster, more responsive reacing performance," says Tom Darnell, president of HiPer Technology.
