Different management quality tools are used to improve the processes as well as financial performance so as to face the challenges of competition and innovation is found to be an important tool in the TQM environment irrespective of the size of the organization. Innovation here refers to the innovation of processes, systems, procedures, products development, and customer service. Strategic planning is helpful in supporting management of innovation especially in countries like Portugal that is facing global competitive market turbulence. Thu organizations that are small, medium and large are equally working towards integration of innovation with TQM. To be successful, such integration should be well planned and executed so that different parts, processes, and services of the organization must be incorporated in this strategy. This should include product and process innovations and the risk and rewards of such integration should also be examined. This study investigates the dynamic relationships between various facets of innovation. The study collects the information from 229 Portuguese manufacturing organizations in order to study the relationships between the facets of innovation such as processes, products, and organizational on one hand and organizational size and perfrmance on the other. The study specifically investigates the relationships between organizational innovation and organizational performance; product innovation and organizational performance; process innovation and organizational performance; and organizational size and organizational performance in the presence of innovation integrated to TQM.
