After an $80/tonne increase in northern bleached softwood kraft (NBSK) market pulp effective list prices this year in North America, buyers expect to increasingly turn to non-contract, spot market suppliers in a bid to land lower-priced tonnes, contacts said. And with an upcoming June world-20 market pulp producer stock report expected to show little change in bleached softwood kraft (BSK), major producers may not entertain the requests, but buyer contacts said this week they'd push first for lower spot prices by month end and then form an aggressive push down on list pricing for August.
