In their otherwise excellent study of psychogenic nonepileptic seizures (PNES), Jones et al. (1) did not report the nature and degree of childhood abuse experienced by their subjects. A recent review (2) cited several studies reporting that 32% to 88% of patients with PNES have experienced physical or sexual abuse in childhood, which is much higher than in epilepsy patients or the general population.
