摘要

Oxovanadium(IV) phthalo-cyanines (VOPcs) with a single-handedrotation have been prepared, and theirright- and left-handed enantiomers re-solved on a chiral HPLC column.These enantiomers gave circular di-chroism (CD) spectra of oppositesigns; the correlation between the CDsign and conformation was obtained bytime-dependent density functionaltheory (TDDFT) calculations: an enan-tiomer showing a negative sign in the Q band was suggested to be the right-handed conformer viewing from theaxial oxygen side, whereas that giving apositive CD sign was assigned to theleft-handed conformer. Although sili-con phthalocyanines (SiPcs) with two different alkoxy axial ligands havebeen resolved similarly, the absence ofa meaningful CD difference probablyreflects the flat character of the SiPcplane compared to the VOPc plane.Changes in the Q-band CD, dependingon the relative orientation of the pe-ripheral substituents, have beenworked out theoretically and the originof the chiroptical properties is dis-cussed.
