THAMES Water,the UK's biggest water utility,has been acquired by a consortium led by the Australian bank Macquarie for pound8b(15b).Macquarie inked the deal days after selling its stake in Thames Water's competitor South East Water to Westpac,another Australian banking group.The deal is subject to approval by the supervisory board of Thames Water's parent company,the German utility group RWE.If approved,it is expected to close by early December.
