The Philippines is one of the first coconut producing countries in the APCC membership that enact a law that not only prohibits but also imposes stiff penalties for the indiscriminate cutting of coconut trees. The following are some of the highlightsof the new law. Illegal cutting of coconut trees shall include any form of circumvention such as uprooting or felling, poisoning, burning and the like which lead to their eventual destruction, death or removal.
