The rings of the (+/-)-trans-1,2-bis(tert-butyldiphenylsiloxy)-, (triisopropylsiloxy)-, and (tert-butyldim ethyl siloxy)cyclohexanes prefer a diaxial chair conformation in the crystal state. The ring of the tert-butyldimethylsiloxy derivative switched its chair conformation between the diaxial and a diequatorial conformations in the crystal and in solution, respectively.
