Large-size firms and exporters are expected to be prosperous, while small and mid-size enterprises would be in slump. Domestic business conditions are expected to make a conspicuous recovery in the second quarter. As a result of a joint survey on 6,058 manufacturing firms across the country in the sectors of steel, shipbuilding, automobile and semi-conductors with the Korea Institute of Industrial Economics & Trade, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy reported the business survey index April 20 with regard to the manufacturing business performance in the first quarter of 2004 and outlook for the second quarter.
