摘要

As Rebecca Donlan's column illustrates, librarians in one departmentcan be unfamiliar with some of the issues faced by their colleagues inanother–even within the same library. Replace department with type oflibrary, and one might expect that the same is true there, even if the typeof library work (say, reference) is shared. In recently attending a work-shop on the role of e-government in libraries, I was reminded of thattruth. While I may encounter the occasional user asking about tax forms, how to fill out a job application, or how to access the online services andforms of other campus departments, I've been fairly insulated from theimpact of e-government on public libraries.
