摘要

Lychees may be propagated from seed, cuttings or by grafting; however, the most widely used method is air-layering. Airlayering is a simple process which produces genetically identical plants and depending on the culti-var, trees that will begin to provide substantial amounts of fruit three to five years after planting. The branch should have a diameter of approximately one half inch at the base. It should be reasonably straight, in good healthy growing condition and about three feet long. If it is much shorter, the time to reach fruiting stage may be increased. If much longer, the airlayer will be more difficult to handle and plant, as well as more susceptible to wind induced damage when planted.
