In the production of amylase by Aspergillus niger using a solid medium of rice bran, a significant increase in yield was obtained using supplements of wheat and soyabean flour and maize gluten. All these supplements gave significantly higher yieldsthan peptone. At the optimum concentration of 3% (w/w) supplement, amylase yield improved in the order wheat flour > soyabean flour > peptone > rice bran.
