摘要

The Department of Health has published guidelines for the development of consultant pharmacists within the NHS. The Advanced Level Framework (ALF) is part of this process for recognising consultant-level practice.1 Moreover, the competence of healthcare professionals is directly linked to quality of healthcare provision.2 Establishing a clear competency framework will provide a reference for the competencies desired at each level of practice, and describe a clear pathway for personal and professional development up to and including consultant pharmacists.Our work aims to codify advanced- and consultant-level practice. To achieve this, we need to clarify what is expected from pharmacy practitioners at the advanced specialist and proposed new consultant levels.3 The ALF has been developed and described in previous work.
