摘要

Universities establish strategic plans to achievetheir goals. However, these plans may not be successful if theneeded resources are not available. Arguably, the most valu-able resources in any university are the expertise of its fac-ulty and staff; its intellectual capital. Therefore, if a universityeffectively measures and manages these valuable resources, itcan more effectively create and deploy strategies to achieve itsgoals. This paper explores methods to effectively measure theintellectual capital in a university. It examines methodologiesin the for-profit sector, creates analogies in the academic world,and then seeks to develop classifications which are meaning-ful in an academic environment. A study is done which minesan institutional repository to analyse expertise and proxy mea-sures of intellectual capital. The results are analysed accordingto a production possibilities frontier theory.
