摘要

The American Board of Medical Specialties has announced the formation of hospice and palliative medicine as a new subspecialty. The American Board of Radiology has enthusiastically agreed to serve as 1 of the 10 cosponsoring boards (Table 1) for the examination, which will be administered for the first time in 2008. The American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine first established a certification program in 1996 to help define the standard of specialty practice deemed appropriate for physicians in hospice and palliative medicine.
