摘要

We have studied the method for optimizing the write strategy under high-density recording conditions where jitter or edge shift cannot be precisely measured. The new method has been proposed for optimizing the strategy using an index accounting for the linearity of the read/write channel, which can be evaluated by determining the pulse response. It has been found that the linearity of the channel has the good correlation with bit-error-rate in a PRML detection system. With the optimized write strategy, 10w40-high modulation phase change media and PRML, the feasibility of the recording capacity around 35 GB/surface has been shown using an optical head whose NA and wavelength were 0.85 and 405 nm, respectively.
