Harmony Gold Mining Company Ltd, one of South Africa's largest gold producers, is taking advantage of the opportunity created by climate change to tackle one of the biggest challenges currently facing the mining sector. South Africa has always been known for its abundance of mineral resources, and is estimated to have the world's fifth-largest mining sector in terms of gross domestic product. These mining activities have been providing wealth and employment to South Africans for more than 100 years, which has led to great economic and industrial development. However, they have also come at a price.
