Airway management is the most important task the anesthesiologist performs! Are you an airway expert or expert in airway management? The legal profession considers a certified anesthesiologist to be an expert in airway management. Expertise in airway management, however, requires more than just specialty certification. Expertise in airway management presents three chal lenges: (1) thorough training of anesthesiology residents, (2) education of anesthesia practitioners in new techni ques that have been developed post-residency, and (3) application of airway management techniques to patients throughout the health care system.
