A natural laminar flow wing that reduces fuel consumption has been developed by Saab as part of the European Union (EU)-funded Clean Sky Smart-Fixed Wing Aircraft (SFWA) project and is now ready for delivery. The SFWA project is the second-largest sub-project within the Clean Sky 1 environmental research programme for aviation. Saab of Stockholm, Sweden, is co-leader of SFWA, together with the aircraft manufacturer Airbus of Toulouse, France.
