The Third Asian Particle Technology Symposium(APT2007)was held on 3-5 September 2007 at the Chunhuiyuan Conference Center in Beijing,China.After the highly successful APT2000(Bangkok,Thailand,2000)and APT2003(Penang,Malaysia,2003)symposia,APT2007 continued the supported of the development of close friendships and collaboration among Asian scientists and engineers.Also,facing the rapid progress in particle technology at the nanometer and sub-micron scale worldwide,the theme of the present symposium was'Small Particle Technology',covering the above-mentioned areas,as well as all the fields that use particles:mining,petrochemicals,aerosols,colloids,food science,material science,nanotechnology,paper technology,pharmaceuticals,bio-and medical technology,and soft matter physics.
