Last week's Gastech 2019,the premier gathering for the LNG sector,highlighted just how rapidly the global gas market has changed and how the burgeoning US export industry is playing a major role.”We are moving into a commoditized industry”that will provide the kind of liquidity needed to supply the large portfolio traders,Meg Gentle,president and CEO of US LNG terminal developer Tellurian,told delegates at the Houston conference.This scenario was prefaced at Gastech 2015 in Singapore,where delegates were giddy about how future US LNG supply could break the stranglehold of sellers insisting on 20-year,oil-in-dexed contracts with strict take-or-pay provisions.Attendees also voiced aspirations that millions of tons per year of uncontracted vol-umes from the US would help create a spot market and greater pricing transparency,not to mention liquidity.
