Right and wrong in life can sometimes be a gray issue, and that includes "green." This has become a more common problem. A recent staff story in The Wall Street Journal by Jim Carlton showed how two "green" elements butted heads. Below are edited excerpts. A proposal by Idaho Power to run a 300-mile transmission line through a forest in La Grande, Oregon, was intended to carry renewable energy furthering use of clean power generation. Only it also spurred "green" groups that opposed it. "We need to develop more renewable energy, of course, but it shouldn't come at the cost of damage to our last remaining wild places," said Brian Kelly, a green group leader trying to stop the project. He said that the project would disrupt elk and deer herds, and spoil views of the Oregon Trail.
