The Association of Asthma Educators (AAE) hosted 160 attendees from across the nation for the AAE Annual Conference, August 2-4, 2013, in beautiful and historic Charleston, South Carolina, for 3 days of education and networking-with plenty of fun opportunities in between!The conference kicked off with the community service project, titled "Back to School With Asthma: Beating the Asthma Blues." A huge turnout of 150 people participated in interactive workshops and fun learning about asthma, plus live musical entertainment by Al Keith.Thursday's preconference session, titled "Asthma Coalitions of the Southeast: Overcoming Obstacles and Achieving Excellence in Asthma Education," was hosted by a panel of experts.Friday's agenda included lively plenary speakers: Dr Carla Keirns, Stony Brook University, who spoke on the history of asthma; Dr Reynold Panettieri presented "Bronchial Thermoplasty-A Revolutionary Treatment in Asthma"; and Dr Gerald Smaldone's lunch presentation was titled "Aerosol Therapy for the Modern Clinician."
