The paper by Lindgren et al (Birth 35[1]:9-15) contributesto the evidence base about risk factors fortransfer to hospital when home birth was intended.We especially appreciate that the authors let us listento the voices of mothers. Thanks to the favorable registriesin Sweden, all 735 women were detected whoplanned to give birth at home between 1992 and 2005,giving birth to a total of 1,038 children within these 14years. They found an antepartum transfer rate of 12.5percent of all 1,025 births, which compares with thefindings for all 42,154 out-of-hospital births between2000 and 2004 in Germany with the same rate of 12.5percent (1).
