摘要

Advances in microelectronics, biomedical and many other areas have increased the demand for micromanufacturing, or micromachining, of fastener components. This means smaller, more precise sizing for many different materials. Ensuring the precision of these small parts by traditional methods, such as gauges, does not provide reliable measurement and fails to provide adequate quality control. For this reason, like many micromachined parts, noncontact optical measurement becomes a vital tool for quick and reliable quality control measurement.
