摘要

Reports a study of twenty doctoral dissertations available at the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) Library, Chandigarh. A total of 4752 references were analysed for identifying their bibliographic form, authorship pattern and obsolescence. A rank list of highly cited journals by IMTECH scientists was prepared and further analysed by country of publication and subject dispersion. The findings reveal that nearly 85% citations were from journal literature, half of which had originated from the U.S.A. Journal literature was mostly contributed by collaborative efforts (87%). Highly cited fifteen journals accounted for half of the total journal citations. About 59% of the journal citations belonged to two subject fields, namely, biochemistry and microbiology. Half life of journal literature in biological sciences was found to be 11 years.
