There are several health care-related problems that both Congressional Republican and Democrat leaders agree need to be fixed, such as surprise medical bills, the Cadillac tax, and the high cost of prescription drugs. However, according to experts from Aon Health Solutions at the May webinar, 2019 Health Reform Update- What’s Next, the problem is finding workable solutions that everyone can support. For the most part in Congress, “we’ve got dueling agendas. We have Senate Republicans, and we’ve got House Democrats,” said Rachel Arnedt, vice president at Aon Health Solutions. “On the Senate Republican side, we basically have support for Trump Administration policies, such as association health plans, short-term limited duration policies, and expansion of HRAs. On the House Democrat side, we’ve got Medicare for All, Medicare for more, Medicare as a public option, and bills that attempt to shore up the Affordable Care Act (ACA). However, there is some potential bipartisan efforts, such as on drug pricing, on surprise medical bills, and repeal of some of the ACA taxes.”
