Two industry sources have said that India's state-owned refiners may stop importing diesel in the near future, and go back to buying supplies from India's privately owned refiners. The state firms had turned to imports over the past few months, after private refiners had said they were no longer interested in covering sales tax and costal freight costs on volumes sold to them. More recendy, however, the sources said mat a new deal has been struck under which the state firms will cover the coastal fright costs and the private sellers will pay sales taxes.
