摘要

Role of residual antibiotics in aquatic environment on the selection and diffusion of bacterial resistances of Aeromonas, Acinetobacter and Legionella. - Antibiotic resistant bacteria and antibiotics are discharged in various amounts in the environment as a result of the increasing and often indiscriminate use of antibiotics in medical veterinary and agricultural practices. Surface waters are the main receptacle for these pollutants and are the major source of water directly or indirectly used for human and animal consumption. The aim of this study, carried out within the National Research Program 49 "Antibiotic Resistance", was to evaluate the role of residual antibiotic compounds in water on emergence and persistence of resistant bacteria. Research was focused on three bacterial genera, Aeromonas, Acinetobacter, and Legionella, largely diffused in the aquatic environment and showing pathogenic properties towards human beings and animals, and three antibiotic families (beta-lactams, quinolones / fluoroquinolones and macrolides) mainly used in human medicine. Phenotypic resistance analysis in various aquatic environments has highlighted the presence of resistant stains in the most contaminated waters. Aeromonas resistant to the fourth generation cephalosporins could be isolated from hospital waste waters and from waste water treatment plants, while clinical strains proved to be more susceptible. On the contrary, environmental Acinetobacter were more susceptible than those of clinical origin. For Legionella strains, MIC values were different according to the genetic type (Sequence-based Type) and not according to the origin. A significant correlation between concentrations of antibiotic compounds measured and resistant Aeromonas and Acinetobacter strains was highlighted in hospital waste waters. Finally, the diffusion of class 1 integrons, genetic and mobile element, in Aeromonas strains isolated from various aquatic environments were evaluated and correlated with their origin.
