First pictures emerged recently of Technip's successful catamaran floatover installation of the topsides for the deepwater Kikeh spar offshore Sabah, Malaysia, the first time such an operation has been carried out in open sea. Installation of the spar topsides as a single integrated deck at the Murphy-operated development, completed last November in 1330m of water, 'opens the door to future use in regions where access to heavy lift vessels for topsides installation is limited', said Technip.
