The growth of L. monocytogenes was analized for two different substances; sterilized maize and pastorized minced meat. L. monocytogenes grow very well both on sterilized maize and in minced meat at temperatures between 20-22 deg C, but at 4 deg C the growth rate is much slower. An infection of L. monocytogenes due to the comsumption of sterilized maize subsequently contaminated is therefore possibile.
