摘要

The 2~(nd) International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference was attended by three Australian delegates in Romania in September 2003. I was fortunate to be chosen to represent Australia at the conference after being awarded the AGS Don Douglas Overseas Fellowship at the 5~(th) ANZ Young Engineers Conference in Rotorua, New Zealand in 2002. Jim Finlayson of Golder Associates Pty Ltd, and Susan Gourvenec from the University of Western Australia were also selected by the AGS for Australian representation at the conference. The venue for the conference was the beach resort of Mamaia (Photo 1), which is located on the shores of the Black Sea near the Port of Constantza, east of the Romanian Capital - Bucharest.
