摘要

Coconut provides livelihood to lakhs of small and marginal farmers of Kerala. The average area of coconut holding among homestead farmers is only 0.2 ha. The crop is facing severe pest and disease problems of which root wilt disease is a main problemin Kerala. Even though management practices of root wilt affected palms have been developed by CPCRI, the extent of field level adoption was found to be low. Hence a project entitled, "Increasing productivity and income from coconut through recommended technologies and diversified products in the root (wilt) affected area - A farmer participatory demonstration and training programme" was sanctioned to CPCRI, Regional Station, Kayamkulamby the Coconut Development Board under the Technology Mission on Coconut. An amount of Rs. 10,18,835 was sanctioned by the Board as financial assistance for the project and an amount of Rs. 8,74,582 was utilized.
