An experiment was designed to investigate the efficacy of polyherbal formulations on rumen enzymatic profile of goats. A 90 day study was conducted on 24 non-descript goats allocated into four groups. They were fed ad libitum basal complete feed constituted rice straw: rhea (60:40) grass hay and concentrate mixture (@ 250/animal/day). The groups were control (T_0) - basal diet without polyherbal supplementation, treatment 1 (T_1) - diet with Ruchamax @ 10g/day/animal, treatment 2 (T_2) - diet with AV/DAC/16 @ 10g/day/animal and treatment 3 (T_3) - diet with AV7RMF/17 @ 10g/day/animal. The concentration and activity of carboxymethyl cellulase and protease were significantly (P<0.01) higher in AV/RMF/17 followed by Ruchamax fed goats. The study indicated efficient fermentation of rumen protein substrates due to high tone up of rumen microorganisms by the polyherbal products. It might be due to more synthesis of microbial protein that is reflected in higher gain in body weight of animals of these groups.
