The basic necessity of consumption of food is to provide the energy required for both metabolic and physical activity. Based on the type of work, age, gender, region, etc., the energy needed for a person's daily life is indicated by Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA). The Military personnel, Warfighters, ^nd other personnel are categorised under the high physical work group, which mandates them to be provided with high energy food. The energy requirement for the soldiers deployed at high altitude isaround 3300 kCal. The food designed, should provide other functional, nutritional and satiating feel apart from providing the needed energy. On designing such high energy food, various criteria's are to be taken into consideration. The factors and technologies influencing in designing the calorific dense light weight foods are discussed in this article.
