In January this year, the European Commission adopted Its White Paper on food safety. This document set out proposals for the establishment of a new European Food Safety Authority (EUFA) together with a major programme of legislative reform which, if implemented, will lead to more EU central control over the whole food law production and enforcement processes. The UK Government response to the White Paper provisions on the EUFA were published in May.
