摘要

Global educational opportunities are on the raise, particularly after the adaption of new economic policy in 1991. Indian students going for the Masters in United State has increased. Compared to India, United States provide greater scope, better and more lucrative employment. For Arts and Science students, higher education in United States is very rare, while the institutes of excellence are able to provide same quality education in India as in United States. Comparison between preference, goals, opportunities and research are made between Indian and United States universities in the context of higher education. In those days a company did not show interest in employing administrative professionals and show Master of Business Administration as a course of education was not popular. Indian students prefer to study abroad because of advantages of personal growth, broader understanding of the world, jump starting the career and better and more lucrative employment offers. Students have been showing greater interest on Technical education and a lower preference for arts and science courses. Private capital has started flowing into Technical education and the number of private engineering colleges in the state of Tamil Nadu had increased from 251 in 2006 to 576 in 2015. Comparison between pre 1990s (pre reform period) and post 1990s (post reform period), the number of students going to united states for higher education from India has been increasing. The cost of education in United States has been increasing over the years.
