Eight nos. of weaned lambs from each of Malpura, Bolangir x Malpura cross and Merino x Malpura crossbredsof about 3 to 3.5 months age were randomly divided into two groups having equal nos. Group I subsistedonly on grazing for six hours daily, while group II was supplemented with 3 hours of free licks of ureamolasses mineral blocks (UMMB) after the herd return ed back from grazing along with the other flock. Theexperiment was continued for three months. The average body weight gain of lambs of group I was foundto be 2.63 kg, while that of group II (supplemented with UMMB) was 4.24 kg. The cost of production per kglive weight gain in group I was Rs. 20.55 and in group II was Rs. 16.67, respectively.
