Proliferation of Morchella conica Pers. was observed in pine tree (Pinus halepensis) plantation forests in the Galilee region following major fires that occurred during July and August 2006. Many ascocarps were found as early as 5 months after the fires, emerging in two flushes in the same forest in early spring. The mushrooms grew mainly near piles of wood debris following intensive forest management activities applied at the site. However, the morels did not reappear at the same site the following year.
