"Nonlinear Robust Control of Electro-Hydraulic Systems" presents systematic and comprehensive study of design and practical investigation of Sliding Mode Control (SMC) algorithms applied to servo-hydraulic actuators. The SMC is well known for its robustness against modeling uncertainties and external disturbances, along with a relatively simple structure and a manageable design process. These attributes make it very suitable for use in the fluid power. Developed Sliding Mode algorithms are applied for position and pressure control of cylinder drives as well as pressure controller for speed-variable-pump systems. Presented control methods, and their tuning rules, were developed in order to fulfill the demands of industry for suitability and handling during system commissioning. The controller performance was experimentally verified. Results show that the dynamic behavior, accuracy and robustness of the considered systems can be significantly improved by use of nonlinear SMC.
