During the life of the PLAN network activity, representatives of nineteen EC funded projects within the Structural Mechanics Cluster have produced a number of focused status reviews covering (i) innovative testing techniques, (ii) defect assessment procedures and (iii) the performance of dissimilar metal welds. In addition, cluster members have contributed to information-bases concerned withthe scope of material property data being generated in EC funded projects (Figure 1), andEuropean component/benchmark testing facilities (Figure 9).These products not only provide significant added value to the contributing projects (Table 1) but are also likely to be of interest to engineers outside the PLAN network, in particular those concerned with plant life assessment and related topics.
