STATISTICAL Process Control will only work when there's a desire to reduce process variations, improve manufacturing processes, and thereby improve profitability. This must apply throughout the organisation, from shop floor operator through to management. The approach must be well defined and follow a step-by-step process. Too often, companies jump in and start measuring parts in process without performing the necessary preliminary studies.
