摘要

Designing and planning cities in consideration of urban climate is increasingly important insome Japanese cities because urban thermal environments in summer are becoming severe.However, stakeholders such as local government officials, planners, and residents cannot con-sider the urban climate in their design and planning processes because urban climate systems aredifficult to understand. Therefore, we proposed the Urban Environmental Climate Map (UECM)for supporting urban design and planning. Nevertheless, UECMs are rarely made and used byJapanese local governments now, apparently because UECMs do not conform to actual Japa-nese planning systems. Therefore, the authors heard from local government officials aboutUECMs' potential use and the information that the UECM should give to them. A major findingis that UECMs should represent suitable places for measures intended for urban heat island mi-tigation.
