摘要

A key feature is to make many different data types open and interoperable. We have data on production and sales, on genomes, on germplasm, on geographical information, weather, soil, persons, institutions, and derivative products such as publications and learning materials. These data are scattered over the entire globe as well. Taking only agricultural research into consideration, the work to do is more daunting than, i.e., in basic life sciences. Also, multi-linguality will be a key feature: In many countries that are important in an agricultural context, such as China or Brazil, English cannot be taken for granted as the language in which datasets are described.
