Montreal, QC-Quebec's used tire recycling program is six years ahead of schedule. The good news announcement was made earlier this month by Jean-Francois Simard, junior environment minister for th province, at a press conference staged on a soccer field surfaced with artificial turf made in Quebec from-you guessed it -recycled passenger tires. According to government agency Recyc-Quebec, 32 million tires have been recycled in the province since 1990. As well, of the 6.6 million tires that are discarded every year, 85 per cent are now recycled into new products or exported.
