The extremely critical independent report by consultants Sapere Research on how the Ministry of Primary Industry (MPI ) handled the recent incursion of the Psa-V virus disease of kiwi fruit must be one of the most damaging reports ever received by a government department in New Zealand. The good news is that MPI has said it will quickly to implement the six recommendations. They include that the ministry's response to threats to vine health was "substandard". Import requirements were deficient.
