A small snail that makes its home in the waters off of Southern California and Mexico, the white abalone, may no longer be able to thrive in the wild, according to a study funded in part by California Sea Grant, The white abalone was the first marine invertebrate to receive protection from the Endangered Species Act. This species may no longer be able to reproduce in its natural habitat.
